Germany-headquartered asset management firm DWS has appointed Vanessa Wang as its head of Asia-Pacific, taking over from Holger Naumann, who has been head of Asia-Pacific for the last four years and will return to Frankfurt as part of a planned retirement.
Based in Hong Kong, Wang, who will report to Stefan Hoops, the company’s chief executive officer of DWS, will also retain her current role as head of client coverage for Asia-Pacific.
Wang joined DWS as head of client coverage for Asia-Pacific in September 2021. Before this, she held several senior leadership roles: at Amundi, where she was responsible for the institutional business in North Asia and the US; at Citi, where she led the pensions business in Asia-Pacific; and, at Mercer, in Beijing as its partner and head of retirement risk and finance business for Asia.
“Wang has long been familiar with the region and has demonstrated impressive leadership skills in knowing our business,” Hoops says. “Her appointment represents the importance of Asia-Pacific as a strategic region to DWS.”
