Société Générale has appointed Soo Tat Kua as head of global transaction and payment services for Asia-Pacific, effective November 1. He replaces Stephane-Alexandre Badoy, who relocated to Paris.

Based in Singapore, Kua will report regionally to Cecile Bartenieff, chief executive officer for Asia-Pacific, and globally to David Abitbol, global head of global transaction and payment services.

Kua will lead the regional global transaction and payment services teams to further strengthen its client relationships and foster sustainable growth of the bank’s global transaction banking franchise in Asia-Pacific, thus supporting the group’s global strategy.

Leveraging its international network in more than 50 countries, Société Générale provides an integrated range of transaction banking services to corporates and financial institutions operating in the region, supporting them with their domestic and international payments, liquidity management, financing needs, international trading activities, factoring and supply chain finance.

Prior to joining Société Générale, Kua was chief operating officer of global transaction banking for Asia-Pacific at BNP Paribas based in Singapore. During his tenure at BNP Paribas for over two decades, he held various key positions, including head of transaction banking product management for Asia-Pacific, head of global transaction banking for Southeast Asia, head of global transaction banking for China, head of cash management for Singapore, and head of electronic banking.

Kua holds a master of technology in digital leadership from National University of Singapore and a certificate in international cash management from the Association of Corporate Treasurers. He is a certified trade finance professional by the International Chamber of Commerce.
