US-headquartered life insurer Prudential has appointed Rajeev Mittal as the CEO of its asset management business, Eastspring Investments, effective July 1, reporting to the insurer’s CEO Anil Wadhwani.
Mittal, who will be based in Singapore and will join the insurance group’s executive committee, brings over 30 years of asset management experience in Asia and Europe. Most recently, he served as the managing director and head of Asia at Fidelity International, spearheading its growth in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East ( excluding Japan ) markets. Prior to Fidelity, Mittal spent 26 years at AIG and PineBridge Investments, initially as an investor before serving as CEO of PineBridge Europe and later CEO of PineBridge Asia-Pacific.
Mittal’s appointment follows the decision by Bill Maldonado to retire. Maldonado will continue to be an adviser to the business until the end of September, the company says, “ensuring continuity and a seamless transition”. He will also continue to serve as a board member of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company.
“[Mittal’s] deep expertise in the Asian markets, combined with a proven track record in managing and developing asset management businesses and client relationships,” Wadhwani adds, “position him exceptionally well to drive the continued growth and success of Eastspring.”
