Oaktree Capital Management, a global investment manager specializing in alternative investments, has appointed Phil Joubert as managing director and head of Asia-Pacific insurance solutions.
Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Greg Halagan, managing director and global head of insurance solutions.
Joubert will be responsible for developing and leading the insurance client segment in the region. With 25 years in the insurance and investments business, Joubert joins Oaktree from AIA Group, where he spearheaded significant initiatives, such as implementing asset and liability management ( ALM ) and investment solutions for the firm’s insurance entities, and expanding into new asset classes, including high-yield bonds and private credit.
He has also held positions at Oliver Wyman, EY, Natixis, Deutsche Bank, and Deloitte, where his leadership has been instrumental in establishing innovative investment vehicles and solutions.
Earlier this year, Oaktree announced the appointments of Cyril Martin as head of insurance solutions for Europe, the Middle East and Africa ( EMEA ), and Richesh Shah as head of insurance solutions for the Americas.
